Luckily, the new Ed Sheeran album, Divide arrived yesterday in time. Dan and I have been waiting for the album to come out since Shape of You and Castle on the Hill came out way back in January. Plus we thought it’d be hard to avoid hearing anything on the radio or whatever until it was delivered.
Listening to the album all the way through- it’s clear that this is going to be his biggest album. Each song has it’s own style; something to please everyone. It’s going to make choosing a new favourite song very hard. Ed said in an interview on Radio 1 that every song is different as well, which is very true. Each song has it’s own style and the album is much more diverse than the others; his best one yet.
After not being disappointed by his new work, it’s made us even more excited to go and see him on tour next month – it’s going to be one of the best gigs either of us have ever been to. Hearing some of the songs, it’s hard to imagine how they’ll be created with just him, a guitar and a loop pedal. However it’s done, it’ll definitely be amazing.
A couple of the best songs from the album like Nancy Mulligan and Eraser should be great too. There’s so many songs that are great to sing along to. Barcelona is definitely a party tune. Now it’s just a matter of waiting until next Friday to hear how many songs he has in the charts. There’s not a lot of artist out there like him either, one of the best singer songwriters around at the moment, that’s for sure. Check out his YouTube channel to listen to the album or stream it literally anywhere!
